“This $600 million is temporary funding to support local culture while we build a long-term plan with other countries. Online streaming services need to help pay for this. Isn't this the responsible thing to do?”
“Mr. Speaker, I think it is really important for us to recognize that this is an interim measure of $600 million that was put into place. There is no doubt, when we think of online streaming and the benefits, that it has to be able to contribute in one form or another. The Prime Minister and the government are committed to coming up with a system that is going to work in the long term by working with international partners, and in the interim, providing funding so we can provide the support that is necessary for our cultural communities. Does the member not think that is a responsible thing to do?”
