“The member is wrong. Our government keeps its promises. We got rid of the carbon tax, paused the gas tax, cut taxes for 22 million Canadians, made the school food program permanent, and found new trade partners. We have done a great deal of what we promised.”
“Mr. Speaker, I disagree with the member. The Prime Minister promised to get rid of the carbon tax. It is gone. He made a promise to suspend the excise tax on gasoline. It was done. He made a promise to 22 million Canadians to reduce the tax rate. It has been done. He made a commitment to 400,000-plus children in Canada to make the school food program permanent. It has been done. He made promises to look for other markets beyond the Canada-U.S. border. Not only are we continuing to do it, but it has already been done, and we continue to push to get more done. The problem is that I am going to be limited on the number of things I can say, because of time constraints, but I can assure the member that the government, in the last 18 months, has done a great deal to fulfill its promises to Canadians.”
