Madam Speaker, I rise today to congratulate Canada’s women’s rugby team on their historic victory over England. Last week’s win was more than just a victory on the scoreboard. It was a statement about how far women’s rugby has come in Canada and a glimpse of an incredibly bright future for the sport. Rugby Canada is showing young Canadians what can be achieved through hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. It is inspiring girls and boys to get involved, stay active and dream big. Now, as the Rugby Rematch Tour moves to our nation’s capital, this great rivalry continues. I encourage Canadians to fill the stands at TD Place tonight and give team Canada the home field advantage they deserve. Let us stand behind our athletes and cheer them on for another great result. Go, Canada, go!
