Madam Speaker, is my colleague referring to the Liberal green fund? Is he referring to about the Canada Post Corporation? Are those really good examples of transparency and controlled spending subject to the scrutiny of Parliament? I respect my colleague’s comments concerning the poppy that we are wearing today. I also agree that the next few days will be filled with ceremonies, and I encourage all Canadians to participate in honour of the CFB Wainwright soldiers. It is a unique opportunity for the public to reconnect with our soldiers and our veterans. However, I cannot agree with the part of his intervention where he said Crown corporations are exceptionally effective in transparency. If he looked back over history a little, he would see that they are the best way for the government to fiddle the numbers and prevent its spending from being counted as government operating debt. That is not what we want here.
