Pierre Paul-Hus Conservative
“The previous Conservative government ran the military well. This Liberal government is taking us backward. It is bringing back an era of secrecy instead of being open with soldiers, Parliament, and Canadians.”
“Mr. Speaker, I also want to thank my colleague for his 20 years of service in the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. He experienced first-hand, on the ground, the impact of ministerial decisions regarding urgently needed equipment. At the time, Stephen Harper’s Conservative government handled those matters exceptionally well. What we are seeing today is a return to the dark ages of Jean Chrétien’s Liberal government. I lived through it myself as a member of the military. It was complete chaos. Once again, we are heading back to an era of opacity and secrecy, instead of transparency for our military personnel, for Parliament and for Canadians.”
