“The government is cutting public services, including $132 million from federal prisons. This means fewer guards, and inmates are getting food and alcohol delivered by drones. The government gives everything to oil companies and nothing to seniors or prisons. It needs to rethink its priorities.”

Madam Speaker, it is always a great pleasure to listen to my colleague from Mirabel. As we know, in addition to being a member of Parliament, he is a university professor. He has a Ph.D. in economics, so when he speaks, it always makes an impression. I feel like I am getting an economics 101 lesson when I listen to his speeches. I wanted to thank him for that. There is one thing he may not have had time to mention. The government is currently implementing budget cuts. It is cutting budgets in the public service and is also making cuts to direct services. Take, for example, what is happening in federal prisons, whose budgets have been slashed by $132 million and which have had to reduce the number of correctional officers on the front lines. As a result, inmates have managed to get items such as food and alcohol delivered to them by drone. There are significant budget cuts happening, and I think the government should rethink its priorities. It gives everything to the oil companies and nothing to seniors and prisons. What does my colleague think?
