“The government introduced the budget right before a break week to avoid questions about it. We need to pass this motion so the Prime Minister comes to committee. He needs to explain why he claimed life is affordable when families are paying $6,000 more a year and cannot afford basic groceries or vacations.”
“Mr. Speaker, if the budget looks like the last budget, then I understand completely why government members would not want to be questioned on it, not on a Friday and not on a Monday. The government introducing a budget on a Thursday before a break week, and then taking that next week, tells us everything we need to know. That is why this motion is so important. It is important to get the Prime Minister at committee to explain his comments, to explain why he told the House that affordability is better than it has ever been and to explain to Canadian families why he is charging them $6,000 a year while they cannot buy raspberries or take a vacation.”
