“The government spends more money paying interest on the debt than on health care. Six million Canadians do not have a family doctor, and wait times are getting worse. Canada should pay down its debt and spend that money on health care instead.”

Mr. Speaker, it is true that the Liberal government spends more on servicing the debt than on health care. Conservatives believe that it should be the other way around. Canadians pay income tax and other taxes to get health care services. They deserve to have the best health care service in the world, but this is far from the case. Our current health care system includes 6 million people with no family doctor. The waiting lists keep getting longer. Within the OECD, we rank among the worst countries when it comes to health care services. One problem is that the Liberals are diverting money from our system to bankers to pay down the interest on our debt. We should pay down our debt and support health.
