“I will not vote for this Conservative motion, but I understand why people want the Prime Minister to speak to a committee. Justin Trudeau used to answer every question on Wednesdays, and it is hard to get that same accountability from the current Prime Minister. Is there a less partisan way to make the Prime Minister answer to Parliament more often?”
“Mr. Speaker, the Conservative opposition day motion is not one I could vote for, but I do sense a reason for asking the Prime Minister to come up for a committee. It is very hard to have the level of response and accountability from the current Prime Minister that we got from Justin Trudeau. Prime Minister Trudeau tried to create a tradition of Wednesday questions, where he would answer every question that came up through a Wednesday question period. I think he was trying to create a tradition that maybe the next the Prime Minister would continue. Does the hon. member for Kings—Hants think there is a way that is less confrontational and partisan than what we have before us today to encourage the Prime Minister to be more available and accountable to other members of Parliament?”
