“These bills give too much power to the Prime Minister's Office. It lets them decide on oil projects all on their own. The finance minister just repeats what the Prime Minister says. That is why committee members want to question the Prime Minister himself. What does my colleague think about this?”
“Mr. Speaker, in the same vein, Bill C-5 and Bill C-39 are concentrating power in the PMO, which can declare that an oil project is in the national interest and which makes all the decisions. It seems like the Minister of Finance is merely a mouthpiece for the Prime Minister. That is why people would like to speak with him directly in committee. What does my colleague think of that?”
