“Mr. Speaker, as Women’s History Month comes to a close, I rise to honour Lynda Kosowan, a true trailblazer of our community, who recently retired after 40 remarkable years of leading the Scarborough Women’s Centre. Under her leadership, the centre has supported more than 175,000 women and their children. Through professional counselling, mentoring and workshops, the centre has helped women move away from abuse, poverty and isolation toward independence. Thanks to Lynda’s leadership, no woman who walked through the centre’s doors had to face her challenges alone. On behalf of Scarborough Southwest, I want to thank Lynda for her extraordinary service and wish her a joyful and well-earned retirement.”
