“I want the member to explain how past Liberal governments balanced their budgets. They did it by pushing costs onto the provinces. What will happen to our social programs now that today's Liberals are putting us in the same financial trouble?”
“Mr. Speaker, my colleague channelled Paul Martin in his speech, and so I would ask him how exactly the Liberal government of that era got back to fiscal responsibility when it came to downloading responsibilities and costs to the provinces. Conservatives have been talking about what is going to happen with our social programs. What happened with social programs when the Liberals of the past were in the same situation that the Liberals of today are going to be putting us in?”
