“Youth unemployment is very high, and getting that first job is critical. What role should the federal government play to help train young people faster?”
“Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. Indeed, there is unemployment in general, but youth unemployment is quite high. Of course, this is also a major concern for us. It is really a matter of that first job. How does a person go about landing their first job? I remember my first job. It was in 1975 and I worked the night shift. It was not necessarily pleasant, but by the weekend, the paycheque was nice. That is very important. That first job is a stepping stone. My question for my colleague is very simple. In this context, in his view, what role should the federal government play in getting young people trained faster?”
