“Indigenous women and girls are still going missing, and the government is not acting with enough urgency. The government needs to quickly train police and provide immediate support for victims to prevent these attacks.”
Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, I do not think the parliamentary secretary nor any minister would claim that this has been accomplished. I think we can agree that the work is, of necessity, going to be partial, but I am not convinced there is a sufficient level of urgency from the government for the fact that people, especially women and girls, continue to go missing all the time. There is police training and the kinds of supports required under the calls for justice, including trauma-informed therapists going right away to help a woman who has been assaulted or attacked get through that process. Those kinds of steps were very specific in the report, and they really must be treated with urgency, because every single attack of a woman hitchhiking on a rural road is something that was avoidable, predictable and preventable.
