“Parents need help protecting their children online because technology changes so fast. This bill needs to stay flexible so it can cover new platforms without having to be changed all the time. I want to know if my colleague agrees.”
“Mr. Speaker, as I was saying earlier, knowing what goes on is important to parents. A lot has changed over the past 30 years. I see it myself as a parent, as I said earlier. My 31-year-old son has three children. What he experiences is entirely different. I feel that parents need help and support. In her speech, my colleague said that we are not sure whether some platforms will be included or excluded. I would also like to point out that other platforms could be created after the bill passes. We therefore have to make sure to retain some flexibility. Does my colleague agree that bills like this one should retain some flexibility? Platforms evolve quickly, and new ones are always being created. We therefore have to act quickly and avoid amending bills all the time. The government also needs the flexibility to support parents as they do their job.”
