“Ottawa does not know what is best for Quebec. Quebec is hurt the most by tariffs, while Ottawa spends billions on the oil industry. I hope other members see this and join us in making Quebec an independent country.”

Mr. Speaker, I always feel sorry for my federalist colleagues when they fall for the line that Ottawa knows best what is good for them. I also feel sorry for my colleagues who fail to see that, economically speaking, Quebec is the one most affected by the tariffs, while Ottawa continues to invest billions of dollars in the oil industry, which is not affected by the tariffs and whose revenues go directly to the United States. Still, I am optimistic because anyone can see the light someday. I am confident that members like my colleague, the member for Québec Centre, will see the light one day and build the country of Quebec with us.
