“This bill does not replace farmers' work. It recognizes the work farmers and researchers have done for decades. It sets up a national plan to help coordinate that work and reward farmers for protecting soil health.”
“Mr. Speaker, it is not that at all, because we are acknowledging the work of the folks who have been doing this work for decades. We are acknowledging the work of universities and researchers. We are identifying what the gap is and a national system that could help coordinate, really supercharge, and have accountability for that. One hundred and fifty-three witnesses spoke to the Senate’s agriculture and forestry committee. This is absolutely about putting farmers, producers and ranchers in the middle of the conversation to see how we can help them and how we can reward them as well for supporting soil health.”
