Mr. Speaker, there are times in Canada’s national life when families experience terrible tragedies. The Prime Minister has just brought one of those tragedies to my attention. He would like to speak on behalf of all Canadians to offer his condolences to a treasured member of the public service who tragically lost her life. I would invite him to stand in his place and share his love, affection and prayers with the family.

Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, I would like to first thank the Leader of the Opposition for this opportunity. On behalf of the Government of Canada and, I believe, all members of the House, I want to begin by expressing our deepest condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of Ms. Ben Salem. Ms. Ben Salem was a valued member of the Canada Revenue Agency. She was dedicated to serving Canadians, which is what she was doing at the time of the attack. The Government of Canada and all members of the House will do everything we can to support our police forces to ensure that the perpetrator of this despicable crime is brought to justice.
