Kelly McCauley, Edmonton West
“I want to thank the organizers and volunteers of the Edmonton food drive. They gathered nearly 400,000 pounds of food for local food banks.”
“Mr. Speaker, I rise today to celebrate the incredible annual Edmonton food drive, organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This massive undertaking brought together 43 local congregations and thousands of volunteers from across 16 communities. Volunteers delivered 300,000 donation bags to local doorsteps and, on September 19, collected the community’s response. Together they gathered nearly 400,000 pounds of food for Edmonton’s food bank and those of surrounding communities. This triumph was made possible by many families; sponsors such as Purolator, Grimshaw Trucking and JustServe; and, with a special shout-out, the coordinator, Chantelle McMullin. I want to give special thanks again to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all the volunteers. They have shown once again why Edmonton is known as the city of champions.”
