I want the government to get rid of laws that hurt business. Let's call the new laws 'an act to repeal'.”

Government Business No. 9—Changes to the Standing Orders
“I don't like that the government House leader is saying things I think are not true. He says status changes from minority to majority aren't common, but it's never happened federally. He says there aren't two tiers of committees, but there are: one tier handles legislation and is chaired by government MPs, the other is chaired by opposition MPs for oversight, not legislation. Those tiers are in the Standing Orders. He says committees can still produce documents, compel testimony and order information, but only if motions pass at committee. Now he's stacking the deck with two extra Liberals. Would Liberal MPs on these committees keep the government House leader's word and vote yes to investigate Liberal corruption, compel testimony and demand information from the government? I want a yes or no.”
“I need to get elected MPs on the record voting for this motion to use in attack ads later. Opposition MPs speaking out on behalf of their constituents raises the alarm on the motion more than I can. Shutting down debate lets me paint the government as undemocratic.”

“I don't like how the government made these changes. I think it happened in secret ways that voters didn't get to see. That goes against what people voted for in the election.”
“The Liberals contradict themselves. They say this committee should match the percentages in the House. But then they give themselves extra seats. I want an amendment to preserve the existing oversight committees.”
“You didn't win because you're popular. We'll win next time. Your plan is bad. I don't like it.”
“I don't like that the government changed the makeup of committees to match the current House. No one voted on the floor crossings or deals. I think the government wants power to hide corruption. I really don't like all the bad and costly things the government has done. I want opposition parties to keep investigating government corruption. I want to limit government power. I will keep fighting for transparency.”
“I want permission for something that I need permission for.”
“You're claiming you want collaboration. But your motion gives you total control. You'd stop needing to collaborate at all. And those three committees are supposed to be different. They provide oversight. The opposition has used them to expose your scandals and corruption. Don't take that power away from the opposition.”
