“Mr. Speaker, my friend was making reference to the important issue of taxation during his speech. I would remind my friend that it has been about one year since the election, and the very first action that our Prime Minister took was to get rid of the carbon tax, which I think was very well-received by Canadians. Then a second action, taken just before summer, was a tax break for the middle class that benefited 22 million Canadians. Fast-forward to today, and we have yet another tax break dealing with the important issue of affordability, where we see the gas tax being reduced by the federal government on a temporary basis to help deal with the price of gas, given what is taking place in the Middle East. I am wondering if my friend would not agree that those three tax initiatives were wonderful to see put into place and that he clearly supports them.”
