Replying to Marie-Hélène Gaudreau (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, I have a very simple question for my colleague. We are talking about consistency in government planning. I serve on the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates. The Liberals are talking about Build Canada Homes, and they want to build more homes. Our party has made concrete proposals and, right now, the industry’s survival is in serious jeopardy. Does my colleague agree that it would have been a good idea to include the wage subsidy in the economic statement, or even to fix the spring gap for businesses?”

Mr. Speaker, Thanks · 9 wordsI thank my colleague for her very thoughtful question.ThanksClaims · 36 wordsRecently I have had the opportunity to sit down in London with homebuilders, developers and people who actually want to buy a home.1I am hearing the same thing across my riding and across the country.Reasoning · 77 wordsWe need to cut bureaucracy and red tape to make homes more affordable.Builders cannot build if they have to pay too many taxes. If the cost of a home now has hundreds of thousands of dollars in development charges, young families cannot afford to buy their first home.We need to work together with municipal governments to find a way to cut red tape, cut taxes and incentivize builders to build homes that Canadians can afford.Partly on point
