Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Mr. Speaker, I would take the member to task for his comments in regard to the degree to which this Prime Minister and this government, through their approach, are expanding Canada’s economy beyond the United States. We have a Prime Minister who got commitments of billions of dollars last year. We have a Prime Minister and a government that have secured numerous signatories on trade agreements of different forms. We have passed legislation on trade agreements with Northern Ireland and Indonesia. We have trade agreements that are in the works for countries such as India, from which the biggest delegation ever, from what I understand, is in Ottawa today dealing with trade. We have commitments working with Philippines and other countries developing trade. I wonder if he might want to retract some of his comments. We are seeing real results with trade.”
