Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Mr. Speaker, at times the Conservatives need a reality check, quite frankly. At the end of the day, they like to take credit for the excise tax relief. I can tell the member opposite that the new Prime Minister, who was elected 18 months ago, recognized the importance of giving tax relief to Canadians. This is not the only government that has done that. Wab Kinew, the Premier of Manitoba, did it a number of years ago. The Conservatives say it is a Conservative idea, but in reality it was a good idea, and it was a good thing for the Prime Minister of Canada, after getting elected, to give that tax break, because we are trying to help Canadians. That is what it is all about. Would the member not agree that it is about helping Canadians?”
