“Mr. Speaker, when the member makes reference to the $600 million, that is a new commitment over and above another half a billion dollars that is out there to support our culture. That would include in excess of well over $100 million for Radio-Canada, for example. I will provide more details on that when I get the opportunity to address the House. I think it is important that we recognize that the $600 million is an interim solution until we are able to come up with a more permanent solution. I plan to expand on that when I get the opportunity to speak.”

Mr. Speaker, Aside · 11 wordswe are so looking forward to hearing the parliamentary secretary’s speech.AsideClaims · 74 wordsWhat he just reiterated to the House, and the message he is sending to the media and culture sector, is that they were deprived of $7 billion over five years with the repeal of the digital services tax, that the CRTC’s levies, 1which would have brought in more than $2 billion, have been cancelled, 2and that this is being replaced by a nice little $600 million that will come out of their own pockets.3
