Replying to Gabriel Ste-Marie (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, when the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage considered the issue, it adopted the following recommendation: That the Government of Canada, in addressing the effects of influencers and social media on children and adolescents—and while recognizing the jurisdiction and primacy of the provinces in matters relating to social services and youth protection—adopt an asymmetrical and flexible approach. I would like to ask my hon. colleague how, with Bill C-34, the government is taking an asymmetrical and flexible approach that recognizes the jurisdiction and primacy of Quebec and the provinces and how the government consulted and worked with Quebec and the provinces on this bill.”
