Replying to Fraser Tolmie (Conservative)
“Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague, someone I spent some time with at the veterans affairs committee. She is surely missed, but she has been well replaced. My colleague from across the aisle asked a question about principle. It was a very good question to ask. The principle of this is why we brought this motion forward as an opposition day motion. It is the principle of putting veterans first, those who have sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we have and for us to be able to speak freely in this House. I would like to hear my colleague’s thoughts on the principle of this opposition motion.”

Madam Speaker, the point is not only to speak out, but also to correct course. If we truly want to support veterans, the Prime Minister must start by listening to his minister, who is trying to do the right thing, and take action. Right now, veterans are being left behind, and that saddens me greatly.
