Replying to Bob Zimmer (Conservative)
“Madam Speaker, I think most Canadians have heard the debate today and they go back to the Prime Minister’s having made promises about buying Canadian and supporting Canadians. That is why most of us find it very strange that the CRA did not give a security contract to a top patriotic organization, arguably the most patriotic organization, in Canada, the Commissionaires, but to what Newsweek called a top patriotic company in the U.S. I will ask the member whether he thinks it is appropriate to give the contract to the most patriotic Canadian company, or to the most patriotic American company.”

Madam Speaker, obviously I am pro-Canadian. We should be supporting our troops and our veterans. When they come home, they want meaningful employment. One of the things not being touched on here is that veterans who come home, when they leave the military, go through a bit of an identity crisis. Giving them meaningful employment is something that helps with their mental well-being. Therefore, it is a complete slap in the face to Canadian veterans when they come home and find fewer opportunities for employment in the workforce in Canada.
