Mr. Speaker, November, also known as “Bowvember”, is a perfect time to talk about men’s mental and physical health, especially prostate health. I want to acknowledge QUB columnist Richard Martineau, who had the courage to speak openly about his prostate cancer. I was moved by his frank, uncensored and very detailed account, and it convinced me to share my own experience as a cancer survivor in great detail, I must say. I am familiar with the worries, questions and emotions that come with such a diagnosis. I know I am not alone. Constant, Marc, Mario and hundreds of others have been through this. More and more men are surviving thanks to science, but my thoughts go out especially to the families of those who sadly lost their fight. As I proudly wear this bow tie today, and I will be wearing the Procure one when I receive it, I want to send a simple message to all men. They should take care of themselves and not hesitate to consult experts, share their concerns and ask for help. This is also true when it comes to mental health and suicide prevention. Let us be brave and have the courage to speak with our doctor or a loved one about it. It is easier when we are not alone. I want to thank Richard Martineau.
