Mr. Speaker, in Niagara, trade with the U.S. is not just a talking point. It is a paycheque and a lifeline for tens of thousands of workers. My riding is home to the Peace Bridge, the third-largest commercial border crossing in Canada. The Welland Canal bisects my riding and is literally the beating heart of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Every truck, every ship and every job depends on a working relationship with the United States. Canadians are tired, and they need a trade deal now. Time is not our friend, but all we hear is talk and no action. This weekend, the Prime Minister called six by-elections and then called Donald Trump. It is time the Prime Minister did what he said he would do. Canadians did not elect a performer. They were promised a negotiator. We need a good deal for Canadians. He needs to get the deal done, and he needs to get it done now.
