“Mr. Speaker, there are two issues we are talking about. One is an American company’s getting a contract that is normally reserved for the veterans of Canada, those who served in our armed forces. However, more importantly, the non-profit Commissionaires uses the revenue to help veterans from the armed forces who otherwise would not have it. The company in question, Allied Universal, a United States-based company, is not going to provide that same service to our veterans. Can the member please comment on that?”

Mr. Speaker, the member asked a very good question. What kind of government that is supposed to be looking after our country and our veterans would consider that to be a good, very sound decision and as standing up for Canada? I can tell the House that a Conservative government would never make that kind of decision.
