Replying to Jacob Mantle (Conservative)
“Mr. Speaker, I am not asking the member about news today. I am asking him about a policy from 2023, which the government refuses to change. I am not asking about LNG or when the next pipeline will be built because it does not matter if someone gets a pipeline built if their customers cannot refine the product. That is the problem with the Glasgow statement. It prohibits Export Development Canada from investing in those types of refinery capabilities around the world, which would increase the market for Canadian oil and gas. This is, as I said in my original question, just one more Liberal policy that the Prime Minister refuses to change, because he was the one at Glasgow pushing these statements. I do not think a tiger can change its spots. I will repeat my question to the parliamentary secretary. Will the Liberals repeal the Glasgow statement and let Export Development Canada and other export agencies promote Canadian oil and gas development infrastructure around the world?”

Mr. Speaker, there is, in a way, common ground here because everyone in the House wants projects built. Everyone wants jobs created. Everyone wants Canada to succeed. There is no point living in the past. Our job is to move from discussion to delivery, and that is exactly what Canadians are seeing through the Major Projects Office, through new infrastructure, through projects already moving forward across the country, including pipelines. We are seeing projects advance. We are seeing partnerships built early and built to last. That is how we deliver, and that is what Canadians expect.
