Replying to Jeremy Patzer (Conservative)
“Madam Speaker, the government is incompetent at managing its affairs. We are debating here today the second budget implementation act from last year. This means we already passed a first budget implementation act, and then a month later, the Liberals had to table a second budget implementation act, which is 352 pages long. This is another omnibus bill on top of the first one they passed, yet they still did nothing, as the member pointed out, for the forestry sector in Quebec, and they did nothing to actually help the aluminum industry in Quebec. They put forward all of this big, heavy legislation, yet they are not doing anything that is actually beneficial to this country. I wonder what the member has to say about that.”

Madam Speaker, I have wondered many times whether this is wilful blindness or some form of hypnosis. In all seriousness, my job is to look at all of the potential impacts. However, every person we talk to, including the procurement ombud, tells us that the current omnibus bills, particularly Bill Budget 2025 Implementation Act, No. 2, but also Bill C-39, represent a serious departure from democratic principles. Yes, we need to continue to do our work because people are not aware of what is happening. I am wondering to what extent the government sees what is coming.
