Replying to Mario Beaulieu (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, Bill C‑31 contains several measures that open the door to more government power and less transparency, such as limiting who can file complaints with the procurement ombud and which complaints the ombud can review. What are my colleague’s thoughts on that?”

Mr. Speaker, my colleague made an excellent point. As I said in my speech on Bill C-40, it is as if the government is building an oligarchy. There should be accountability. There should be a way to bring forward challenges to the ombudsperson. Absolutely, I agree with him. This bill, soon to be replaced by Bill C-40, has a complete lack of accountability back to Parliament.
