Mr. Speaker, for more than 40 years, he battled wildfires and faced off against raging floodwaters, but every single time he was called to action, he did not flinch. Dean Vincent spent more than 40 years running towards danger to ensure that he helped protect his friends and neighbours of High River. Last week, Dean announced his well-earned retirement after 40 years at the High River Fire Department. His career reflects the very best of service: community, compassion and commitment. His commitment earned him honours such as the Alberta Emergency Services Medal and the prestigious Governor General’s Exemplary Service Medal, which all recognized his incredible career as a firefighter, but it was not that recognition that motivated him. It was his need to help the most vulnerable. Dean was always someone people could count on in a time of need. On behalf of the House and of all of the residents of High River, I thank Dean for his time and his service. I congratulate him on his retirement and urge him to spend time with his grandchildren. He has earned it.
