Mélanie Joly

Replying to Michael Guglielmin (Conservative)
“Mr. Speaker, the minister keeps sending letters and moving deadlines, but what workers really need is a more competitive industry. Conservatives have offered some concrete solutions, like pre-approving LNG projects so we can signal demand to industry for Canadian steel and getting rid of the industrial carbon tax. We have also argued for regulatory and tax reform. Will the Liberals today commit to advancing our proposals and work with us to make Canada the most competitive place to do business in the world, yes or no?”

Mr. Speaker, I have a lot of respect for my colleague, and I am always willing to work with him. We know that together we need to deal with the American tariffs, we need to protect our steel sector and we need to make sure that, when it comes to Stelco, the workers are back. At the same time, I must say that my colleague needs to look at the budget tomorrow. I am convinced that he will be convinced by our plan to build Canada strong.
