Replying to Luc Thériault (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, I heard my colleague say that, when it comes to mental illness, moving forward while the health care system is not equipped to treat people would be catastrophic. However, I did not hear my colleague call for a 35% increase in health transfers, as the Bloc Québécois has done. Not wanting people to face discrimination indefinitely because they have been resistant to treatment for decades, and wanting to wait until our system is effective, while also not transferring the funds needed to make it so, seems rather illogical to me.”

Mr. Speaker, I strongly believe that health care in Canada should be better than what it is right now. I believe the current government should stop its reckless spending on other pet projects outside of the country, bring that money home and invest it in health care services. For example, the debt the government has increased in this country is from interest payments. We are paying more for interest payments than we are for health care transfers. Let us bring that money back home, and let us fix our health care system.
