Replying to Jean-Yves Duclos (Liberal). The question was off topic, so this reply is judged against the bill.
“Madam Speaker, I would like to begin by congratulating my esteemed colleague, the Minister of Health, for all her leadership on this issue. I can tell her that, yes, we have been waiting a long time for this bill, but now we are truly moving in the right direction, and we are doing so quickly. The Canadian government is playing a leadership role. It is not responsible for managing hospitals, but it has a role to play in health care and public health. I would like her to elaborate on an issue that we do not talk about often enough: the fact that data is important to health research, which is, in turn, important to clinical care, benefiting both patients and health care professionals.”
