“Mr. Speaker, before I ask my question, I want to wish my good friend Dr. Sandeep Sharma, one of the top plastic surgeons in India and past president of the Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, a happy birthday in advance. We have seen this movie before. PrescribeIT was supposed to modernize prescription management, but the service ultimately had to shut down. The Minister of Health has consistently and steadfastly avoided questions on PrescribeIT. Would my colleague agree that before the government embarks on another ambitious digital health initiative, Canadians deserve to know what went wrong, what the cost of that boondoggle was and why the legislation would work this time around?”

Mr. Speaker, Thanks · 8 wordsI really appreciate the member and his intervention.ThanksProcedure · 8 wordsI think it comes down to one thing.ProcedureClaims · 57 wordsIt is really easy to pass legislation that forces other entities, in this case companies, usually very large organizations, to comply with particular standards.Again, whether they actually do it or not, they can send in the paperwork required and say they meet all of the requirements under the interoperability provisions of Bill S-5.1That is there.Reasoning · 15 wordsHowever, it is different when the rule-maker now has to be the person to deliver.Positioning · 42 wordsThat seems to be where the Liberal government continues to slide. It is like a vacuum that money, good intentions, announcements, meetings, everything gets thrown into, but nothing ever seems to come out. That is what I think Conservatives are opposed to.PositioningPartly on point
