“The Liberals say committee seats should match the makeup of the House, but they are giving themselves more seats than they actually hold. I want to know what my colleague thinks about that.”

Mr. Speaker, my hon. colleague is well aware that the Liberals are good at saying one thing and doing another. They are telling us that committees must reflect the composition of the House of Commons. I think my colleague and everyone here agrees with that principle. I would like to hear my colleague’s thoughts on this: The government members want to give themselves 58.3% representation on committees when they hold only 50.7% of the seats in Parliament. They are trying to force that on us. They are pretending to be innocently trying to make the committee membership reflect their majority, when they are actually trying to impose an unjustified supermajority.
