“We need to develop our natural resources so young people can find jobs. In Newfoundland and Labrador, young people are leaving because there are not enough jobs for them.”
“Mr. Speaker, the member across the way consistently stands up in this House and is always the person to ask questions of members opposite. However, if we do not have an economy that has opportunities for our young people, we can train them all we want but at the end of the day there is no job for them to go to. In Newfoundland and Labrador, we have enormous resource potential, but we have an out-migration problem because we have not developed our natural resources sector to be able to retain our people in our communities. We need to talk about how we can unleash our untapped potential in order to provide some opportunities for our young people.”
