Pierre Poilievre Conservative

“I have never supported giving public money to businesses. The oil and gas industry does not need government money. It would do well if the government just got out of the way. Also, the Bloc Québécois wants higher taxes to protect culture, but Conservatives want people to keep their money and choose what they want to watch.”

Mr. Speaker, the hon. member should do his research. I have never supported any form of corporate welfare for any industry. I will also let him know that the oil and gas sector is in no need of corporate welfare. It could be very profitable if we could get the government out of the way. Oil companies can pay more and contribute more to our economy, but we would have to get the Liberal government out of the way. Now let us talk about taxes. The Bloc Québécois believes that the only way to protect culture is to increase consumer taxes. Conservatives believe exactly the opposite. We believe that money should stay in consumers’ pockets so they can decide what cultural content and programs they want to watch.
