“This bill takes away protections for religious beliefs. Pastors worry they could get into trouble just for preaching biblical teachings on marriage. Is the member hearing these concerns?”
“Mr. Speaker, the member across the way stated that the religious exemption has never been used so they cannot cite a case. I am sure the member realizes that there was an exemption that did not have to be proven, and now Bill C-9 would remove that: genuine belief. Is my friend hearing concerns from pastors about things such as that if they say that people should wait to be intimate, to have intercourse, until their marriage, that biblical principle could get them in trouble? Is my friend hearing questions of that nature?”
