“I want the House to pass this bill. The government is using environmental rules to hurt rural communities and the industries that run our economy. Canada already has strong environmental rules. The government must stop attacking our way of life.”

Mr. Speaker, I really appreciate the passion that the hon. member brings to the House. It is the next generation that really motivates me. I have three kids of my own. I know the opportunities I had growing up in small-town rural Saskatchewan. The very lifestyle I had growing up, that way of life, is under attack by the Liberal government. The Liberals have actually used the environmental lens to try to punish and destroy the rural way of life. They have zero clue. They have no understanding of what it means and what it is like to be from rural Canada and to have to suffer under the policies that they have put in place. That needs to end. The government needs to quit using the environment as a way to destroy and punish the main industries and sectors that drive and fuel the Canadian economy. Yes, we need to have proper environmental protections. We have the strongest regime in the world. If the rest of the world adopted Canadian environmental standards, all the issues the Bloc talks about would start to slowly go away.
