“Our government is giving $36 million to build a new French-language community and arts centre in Orléans. It will open in 2027. I am also welcoming guests from an association that connects our town with New Orleans.”
“Mr. Speaker, last Friday, I had the pleasure of visiting the new facilities of the Mouvement d’implication francophone à Orléans, or MIFO, which will open its doors in the fall of 2027. This visit gave me an opportunity to see the scope and potential of this major project, which will become the largest francophone cultural centre in eastern Ontario. MIFO will house a gymnasium, a performance venue, an art gallery and a whole host of spaces for gathering, creating and celebrating. Our government is proud to support this project with a $36‑million investment that will benefit the francophone and francophile community of Orléans. Today, I am also pleased to welcome to Parliament a delegation from the Orléans Wichita New Orleans association, along with the Société franco-ontarienne du patrimoine et de l’histoire d’Orléans. Their mission is simple: to bring the two Orleans closer together across the Atlantic and celebrate everything that unites us. I welcome our dear cousins to Ottawa.”
