“Creating a new defence agency as a Crown corporation will help it move faster. This will let the government buy new technology as quickly as private businesses do, so our military gets what it needs.”
“Mr. Speaker, as I shared with the last question, the decision to move forward with a Crown corporation for the new Defence Investment Agency would enable the agency to move more quickly and give it the ability to meet the pace of industry. As someone who represents a riding with many companies in both defence and dual-use technologies, a comment I hear often is that it is a challenge for the government to keep pace. Here is the government in action, doing just that. The ability to move more quickly, at the speed of commercial contracting, to ensure that the Canadian Armed Forces has the cutting-edge solutions that it truly needs and is looking to acquire is really an opportunity. I am proud of the work of our government in moving forward with this legislation.”
