“This bill only saves four cents a litre on diesel and ten cents on gasoline. That is not enough to help farmers, truckers, and contractors who cannot afford life right now. The Liberals voted against admitting there is an affordability crisis, yet now they are looking at a fuel affordability bill. That is hypocritical.”

Mr. Speaker, the issue that we are looking at today is Bill C-38, which proposes four cents a litre on diesel fuel alone and 10¢ a litre on gasoline. Like I said before, four cents a litre on diesel fuel to farmers, truckers or contractors is a rounding error. The crisis that folks in manufacturing and transportation are facing is affordability. The Liberals today had an opportunity to recognize, through our motion, that for the past 11 years we have been governed here in Canada by a Liberal government, and that today, we are in an affordability crisis. The Liberals said no. All the other parties agreed that we are in an affordability crisis. They had the opportunity to say no, and I find it really hypocritical that today we are studying what is known as the Canadian fuel affordability act.
