“Young people in my colleague's region face big challenges with expensive homes and travel to work. Conservatives have shared plans to help them. We want to lower government costs to build more homes, create jobs, and train workers for those jobs.”

Mr. Speaker, it is a pleasure working with my colleague and friend. Early on, in taking on the role as Conservative shadow minister for jobs, I spent some time in the member’s region, and he was a great host. He brought my kids to their first ever kabaddi game. We also met with various employers and understood the challenges. In particular, in his region, home prices are a significant barrier for young people. It is challenging everywhere, but especially in that region, where young people are trying to establish themselves and get ahead. Also, there are transportation challenges in terms of finding a job and being able to live near or get to where the work is. These are huge challenges that exist in his region, and I want to thank him for helping me and other colleagues understand those challenges. We released positive, constructive proposals around unleashing home construction and getting the cost of government out of home construction so that young people can afford homes, around opportunities for jobs and around improving training to align training with the jobs that exist. There is a lot we can do. There is a lot we have already proposed. I want to thank the member for his advocacy specifically for his riding and his region.
