“Our committee is studying how to help veterans use their military tech skills in civilian jobs. Many leave the forces young and want good new careers. I want all members to support this work.”
“Madam Speaker, one thing we are studying at the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs right now, which is very important for our veterans, is how to recognize the amazing skills they acquired in the forces. The forces now include drones, as I mentioned, cybersecurity, AI, all of those technologies that are so important to the defence sector. When they retire from the forces, they are sometimes as young as 34, and they want a rewarding career after the forces. They want to feel that they are contributing to the service of their country that they love. Our job, and I invite all members to support me, is to help them recognize the skills they acquired in dual-use technology and how they can translate those into civilian jobs so that we can build very rewarding careers for all of our veterans.”
