“Governments should invest in infrastructure during tough economic times. Canada is now ranked the top country in the world for new infrastructure investment. Big banks and pension plans have promised almost half a trillion dollars to invest here, which will build a stronger economy.”
“Madam Speaker, I represent the riding that Jim Flaherty served for about a decade before he passed. He was a good finance minister, and I agree with the strategy, which is that, in hard economic times, often one of the things that governments do is to strategically invest in infrastructure. Canada is now ranked as the number one place in the world for new investment in infrastructure. We are the most attractive in the world for infrastructure investment. That is significant, and we have seen lots of new private sector investment interest in Canada from around the world. The Prime Minister’s investment summit got almost half a trillion dollars in new business investment commitments from our financial institutions here in Canada, our big banks and our pension plans. We are going to build this country up, and infrastructure is one of the ways that we can invest in a more productive Canadian economy for all Canadians.”
